Arabic style is one of the most striking ethnic styles in interior design and architecture. Its formation and development took place under the influence of Islam, and by that the entire authenticity of the Arab-Muslim culture was reflected in decoration of a house. This style is common in the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in other Islamic countries: Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, etc.
Arabic style gravitates towards elegance and luxury, that will become an extraordinary decoration for a cafe, restaurant, country house or ordinary city apartment. The unique flavor of this style attracts many admirers in Europe and around the world.
A distinctive feature of Arabic style is its decorative effect. Since the Koran forbids the depiction of people and animals, there are no paintings and sculptures in an Arabic interior. The main role in decor is played by numerous ornaments that adorn walls, household items, carpets, weapons and jewelry. Each element of decoration is made with incredible detail and precision, which sometimes gives the impression of being fed up with trifles.
When arranging Arabic style in an ordinary apartment, it is enough to confine ourselves to styling a living room or bedroom. Since the Arabs are a nomadic tribe, it is very important to recreate the feel of a nomadic lifestyle. It can be an imitation of a tent, carpets on a wall and weapons as decoration. It would be especially appropriate to use draped curtains above a bed, descending from under a round cornice.
Walls can be finished with natural fabrics with a national pattern - velvet, silk or brocade. Seamless wallpaper from similar materials can be substitute.
The colors used in decoration are bright and saturated, such as red, green, white and blue. Red and gold, signs of wealth and prosperity, are the national colors of Arabic style.
Blue is used less often, mainly in bathrooms, kitchens or stained-glass windows. Such interior in an unusual color scheme is combined with gilding, silver or bronze. There is no place for monotonous ornaments and smooth surfaces. Preference is given to textured planes.
In Arabic style, floors are traditionally covered with natural wool carpets. Traditional seating places in the East are pillows, pouffes and cushions.
Window frames are usually dark brown. Stained-glass windows with geometric patterns are very common. Curtains are designed to recreate a feeling of lightness, so the choice of textile materials falls on tulle and silk.
Original Arabic furniture - chests, low cabinets, tables or chests of drawers are decorated with carvings, mother-of-pearl and gilding. They are quite often built into the walls and decorated with screens. The furniture upholstery should be made of satin or velvet.
Accessories play an important role. These are hookahs, inlaid weapons, chased dishes, oriental musical instruments, books in expensive bindings, forged bird cages, as well as handmade items. In an Arabic interior, it is possible to use patchwork patterned pouffes and pillows.
