POSTMODERN

Postmodernism arose in the 60s of the XX century and is a descendant of Modern, as you can guess from its very name. Postmodernism is an entwinement of various styles and elements, illogically mixed, at first glance. Postmodernism practices an eclectic appeal to traditional art shapes. Combining them in an unusual way, it creates a kind of theatrical aesthetic environment, and introduces some elements of irony in it.

This interior design style can be found in various restaurants, clubs, beauty salons, and other places where glamor rules. Postmodern style can often be found in luxury and bohemian apartments. The main task of Postmodern style is to destroy generally accepted stereotypes and change the generally accepted purpose of familiar things. The design of Postmodern style apartments is the imagination of a designer and the creativity of their thinking.

Postmodern style designers use completely different objects in interiors, radically changing their original purpose. Unusual things become accents in interiors of this style.

Postmodern style walls: there is no rigid style that dictates a certain finishing material. More often they are made plain and neutral to accentuate bright decor items. Niches, geometric inserts made of metal, glass and even plastic with the use of lighting fit well the Postmodern walls. One of the walls can be decorated with airbrushing.

Ceiling in postmodern style: monochromatic, often multi-level and asymmetrical. Multicolor and the use of bright colors depends on the desired effect, the main thing is not to oversaturate.

Postmodern style floor: depends only on the required flooring quality and the functional purpose of a room (bathroom, living room, kitchen, etc.), otherwise there are no restrictions. Ornament or texture (for example, parquet) is strict and clear. If you choose a carpet, then let it be bright, plain with a geometric shape or asymmetrical. The same applies to all-to-wall carpeting, but more often a plain neutral color is chosen.

Postmodern furniture: postmodernism in furniture design is expressed primarily in a new round of development of classics, that eclectically reworked the legacy of the “big” styles.

Postmodern is dominated by free, dynamic lines, symmetrical and asymmetrical forms. Postmodern style is characterized by heterogeneity, when one interior can have strictly shaped furniture together with a smooth and streamlined one. Artificial leather, nickel-plated and chrome-plated materials are widely used in Postmodern. Futuristic furniture is also appropriate. Do not overdo it, try to minimize the amount of furniture.

Art objects in a Postmodern interior should also be very bold and even whimsical. If you choose paintings, they should be bright and saturated inspired by abstractionism, cubism, post-impressionism or even Dadaism. Prints (posters or posters) will fit perfectly.

Lighting is important in Postmodern style. It should be rich and varied, in line with the whole interior concept. Try combining a large chandelier of an unusual shape with numerous halogen lamps. Neon lamps are used to add bright colors to the lighting.
