POP ART

Pop art style captured America, and then Europe in the fifties and sixties of the XX century, and today it’s more associated with pictures of comic book characters and repeatedly duplicated images of Coca-Cola cans, as well as portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. These images have become iconic for this style.

The design of apartments inspired by pop art always attracts attention with some unexpected outrageous tricks. It's a little crazy – here is an unlimited choice of plastic furniture, neon paints, comics and many interesting details. The majority of Pop art fans are among children and youth, as it is a real parody of style and fashion.

Pop art is peculiar. It looks somewhat naive, even doll-like, but at the same time comfortable and functional. In any case, an owner of an apartment, who decided to renovate it in Pop art style must have an adequately light life attitude. All you need to create such interior is a lot of bright colors and inspiration. You can also limit yourself to one or more items, painting them in bright colors.

There are no strict design rules in pop art, what makes it possible to boldly experiment with décor, using advertising posters, newspapers and magazines. The essential features of this style are abstract drawings, flashy colors, glossy surfaces and, of course, plastic.

Furniture is predominantly streamlined and of "acid" colors. Cabinets aren’t typical for this style and are compensated by shelves, air racks and niches. Add exclusivity to an interior with a sofa painted with graffiti or an armchair upholstered in fabric with unusual geometric patterns. Sofa cushions in contrasting colors will look good. Instead of a carpet, the skin of a zebra or tiger is a quite good choice.

Lighting in Pop art style should be chosen based on fashion trends. Made of plastic, glass or paper, lamp shades must be bright.

Good examples of Pop art interior decor are enlarged motifs with color elements on a bright background. In order to give naturalness to an interior, such paintings shouldn’t not be placed symmetrically. The comics will look great too.

Decorate and complete the interior with stylized plastic accessories: watches, photo frames, figurines, vases, lamps and candlesticks. The main selection criterion is some pretentiousness, brightness and compliance with the chosen color scheme.

Pop art is characterized by the use of bright and acid colors, which rarely complement and smooth each other. Therefore, do not overuse the color - you need to consider that you will have to live in this room. Bright design can look beautiful and fresh, but there is a danger that an owner will quickly get tired of the rave of color.
