MODERN

Modern as an art movement emerged at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries in developed countries with intense spiritual life. It introduced fundamentally new decorative elements into interior design, preferring them over constructive ones. In Germany and Austria, it was called "Jungendstil", in France and Belgium - "Art Nouveau", in England and Russia - "Modern", in Italy - "Liberty", in the USA - "Tiffany style".

This style involved the use of the most modern materials of its time and was distinguished by considerable design freedom. Its creators brought all the best achievements of past styles and the most refined and sophisticated ideas of their time into interior design.

The main idea of Modern style was to creating beauty, that is so rare in the world around us, and its goal was to transform life by aesthetic means, “to heal life with beauty” in a way. The modernist manifesto is to combine professional artistic creativity and production of household products.

In interiors done in Modern style there is often a free layout, different levels of the floor, expanded window openings. One of the principles of working on an interior is to improvise on the chosen theme.

Typically, they use patterned ceramic cladding, forged bent iron with floral weaving in decorative lattices and stair railings in facades and interiors decor. Stained-glass windows are very common, most often they have an abstract flowing pattern of complex color tones and shades, complementing each other, rather than contrasting.

An interior in Modern style is a one body, with various patterns being repeated in the outlines of furniture, depicted on fabrics and may be repeated in accessories. Walls of the premises are covered with bizarre, asymmetric, capriciously wiggling lines; they become colorful, often decorated with flat plaster plastics.

Among the favorite combinations are the color of a withered rose and tobacco, pearl gray, gray-blue, dusty lilac shades.

However, if you manage to find silky wallpapers or draperies for a window with the image of a blooming poppy or peacock feather, artsy flowers and insects, exotic birds, you are guaranteed to hit the exact style.

The stylized modern floral ornament dominates the decoration of furniture. At the same time, a constructive furniture line is developing, where decorative elements are reduced to a minimum. Keep in mind that Modern style furniture was as unusual as the color scheme of the walls and fabrics.

Bizarre winding outlines were basic for chairs and armchairs, couches and tables. Furniture for various purposes - cabinets, chests of drawers, shelves - can be rectangular, but always with some "aesthetic": frosted glazing, elegant fittings.

Modern upholstered furniture fits Modern style quite well. There is a hint of the curved lines of Modern in the bends of the elbows or the pattern of the legs.

Modern is a very refined and decorative interior style, and with its cult of beauty stays always up-to-date. The fabulous ornateness of classic Modern organically fits into apartments of modern high-rise buildings and country mansions.

Moreover, it is equally possible to successfully reproduce the setting typical for this style at the beginning of the last century, and to adapt this style to the realities of the time. In this case, you can use modern furniture in your interior: for example, a stainless-steel kitchen combined with wood. The main thing is that the combination of wood and metal cultivated by modernity does not contradict the style, but rather creates its new modern version.
