EGYPTIAN STYLE

Egyptian style, by definition, is one of the very first styles used by people to arrange their homes. At the same time, it has many features and bright details, that don’t let us confuse it with any other style. Regular geometric shapes, monumentality, arches and niches, columns and frescoes, symmetry in everything - all this came to us from Egypt and became a source of many European classical styles.

An important element of Egyptian style is a color scheme of the premises. The main colors - yellow and gold - symbolize the sun, wealth and prosperity. For Egyptian style decor, gold and black colors are key. In addition to all shades of yellow, beige and ivory are popular in Egyptian style too.

Ornaments of strict geometric shapes, borders under a ceiling with flowers and lotus leaves, papyrus, canes, palm trees, arrows styled as the sun rays can serve as decoration for walls.
There can be a painting on walls or a ceiling that depicts scenes from the life of the ancient Egyptians. Arches and false columns with palm tree or papyrus shaped capitals, a blue ceiling with golden stars will create the illusion of a temple of the Egyptian god of the sun.

Egyptian-style floors were gold or silver, or rather they were covered with precious metal tiles. However, you can decorate floor with gold or silver tiles. A black marble or deep cherry hardwood floor is a great solution.

Furniture that organically fits into Egyptian style should be made of natural wood, and expensive species, possibly complemented by elements of marble and bronze. But its design is extremely simple, with the exception of the legs, that often had a shape of animal paws. Wardrobes can be replaced with wooden chests and caskets adorned with precious stones or have bronze accents.

Choose black leather furniture as it has a rich color and chic fabric that is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian culture. You can cover upholstered furniture with mantling imitating animal skins.

In Egyptian style it is important to pay attention to doors. Doors to premises, to Egyptian halls, were most often made of cedar. They were decorated with gold and ivory. But you can choose ordinary doors with imitation of gilding and ivory.

In general, Egyptian style is distinguished by its brightness, but not too much variety of colors. For example, it is better to choose curtains in plain color, or with a medium-sized geometric ornament, while floors can be covered with tiles imitating gold or silver.

The same chests, their mini versions, lamps made from natural materials or their imitations, floor vases can serve as accessories and decor. And, of course, pyramid shaped figurines, a sphinx, symbols of the sun or other symbols of Egypt are welcomed. Large lamps and stalks of papyrus and canes in floor ceramic vases will perfectly complete the look.
Egyptian style seems rather vague to us, but by collecting all the pieces, namely all the information that has survived to this day, you can create a fairly cozy and rich environment radiating the greatness of Egypt.
